This sensor kit includes an in-ground soil moisture sensor and a sensor control user interface. It measures soil temperature and electrical conductivity. Furthermore, it can feedback to irrigation systems which means that it has a water saving feature.

The sensor is corrosion resistant and does not need maintenance- you can just bury it in the ground and forget about it. It takes a soil moisture reading every ten minutes and when the soil is above a set water threshold the watering cycle is suspended. When the sensor detects any dry conditions, the watering cycle will be resumed. This feature typically makes water savings of over 40%.

It has an easy to use interface with touchpad keys, and it displays Absolute Volumetric Water Content (0 to 100%,) soil temperature (in Fahrenheit or degrees Celsius), soil conductivity (in dS/m) and indicates whether irrigation history is suspended/allowed. Up to two independent zones can be isolated from the sensor and there is a sensor bypass key which means the sensor can be easily deactivated.
