A basic plastic, non-adhesive, detectable underground warning tape marked CAUTION - WATER PIPE BELOW. Similar to the non-detectable tape but with the addition of 2 wavey wires to enable location. Tapes can be extended by twisting, or preferably crimping, together the wires. The end of the tape should be located above ground to enable connection of the location equipment (signal generator).

The tape should be positioned at a specified distance above the buried service so that it would be excavated before the service pipe or cable itself.
